New Year always feels like a fresh inhale.
The days get a little longer, the light shifts, and suddenly I’m back in that familiar place: planning, dreaming, organizing, and getting ready to welcome women into the mountains for a few days of movement, breath, and real rest. This year for the second time.
If you’ve been craving a reset—something that feels simple, grounding, and genuinely nourishing—this is your sign to start thinking about a mountain yoga retreat in Alberta.
Why “yoga season” feels different (in the best way)
There’s something about this time of year that makes people want to come back to themselves.
Not in a dramatic, overhaul-your-life kind of way. More like:
- “I want to feel like me again.”
- “I need space to breathe.”
- “I miss moving my body in a way that feels good.”
- “I want to step away from the noise for a couple of days.”
That’s exactly why I love retreats. They create the kind of environment where your nervous system can soften, your mind can quiet down, and your body can remember what it feels like to be supported.
What I’m planning for this year’s Alberta yoga retreats
I’m in full planning mode right now—mapping out themes, building the flow of each day, and making sure every detail supports the experience.
Vital Living retreats are 2–3 day yoga retreats in the mountains of Alberta, hosted at Bee and Bear. The setting is peaceful and grounding, and the retreat itself is designed to feel clean, calm, and intentional.
Here’s what I’m focusing on as I plan this season.
1) Themes that feel real
I’m choosing themes that meet you where you are—especially if life has been full, busy, or emotionally heavy.
Some theme directions I’m exploring:
- Return to Self: reconnecting with your body, your breath, and your inner steadiness
- Soft Strength: building strength through presence, not pressure
- Unwind + Reset: releasing tension and creating space to breathe
- Grounded Energy: feeling clear, energized, and supported (without burning out)
The goal isn’t to “fix” you. It’s to create an experience that helps you come home to yourself.
2) Flow-style yoga that feels supportive
The yoga at Vital Living retreats is flow-style—but always with options, always with the intention of meeting your body with respect.
You can expect:
- Breath-led movement
- Strong, steady flows (with modifications)
- Time to slow down and integrate
- A pace that feels grounded—not rushed
Whether you’re coming in feeling stiff, tired, stressed, or simply out of routine, the practice is designed to help you feel better in your body.
3) A retreat rhythm that actually lets you rest
One of the biggest things I plan for is the pace.
A lot of women are already living in “go mode.” So the retreat schedule needs to feel like permission to slow down.
I build in space for:
- Quiet mornings
- Unhurried meals
- Time outdoors
- Rest between sessions
- Early nights if you want them
You won’t be “on” all day. You’ll have room to breathe.
4) Details that support calm
I’m a big believer that the small details matter—because they shape how safe and settled you feel.
As I plan, I’m thinking about:
- Clear communication (so you know what to expect)
- A simple, clean retreat flow
- A calm, welcoming environment
- A gentle tone that doesn’t feel pushy or intense
My goal is for you to arrive and immediately feel: Okay. I can exhale here.
Who these retreats are for
Especially for women who are craving a reset.
Vital Living retreats are especially supportive if you:
- Feel like you’ve been carrying a lot
- Want to reconnect with your body in a kind way
- Love the idea of the mountains, fresh air, and quiet
- Want a wellness experience that feels grounded and real
- Miss feeling energized, clear, and calm
You don’t need to be “good at yoga.” You don’t need to be flexible. You just need to be willing to show up as you are.
Why a mountain yoga retreat in Alberta is so powerful
There’s a reason the mountains change people.
When you step away from your regular environment—your responsibilities, your routines, your constant input—your system finally has a chance to downshift.
And when you pair that with:
- intentional movement
- breathwork
- rest
- nature
- supportive community
…something shifts.
Not always in a loud way. Often it’s subtle.
You leave feeling lighter. Clearer. More like yourself.
What I’m most excited about this season
Honestly? I’m excited about the feeling in the room.
That moment when everyone arrives and you can sense the collective exhale.
I’m excited about women remembering their strength—without needing to push.
I’m excited about the quiet conversations, the laughter, the calm mornings in bathrobes, the unexpected connections and the way nature makes everything feel simpler.
And I’m excited to guide flow practices that help you feel grounded, open, and alive.
